Saturday, 48 Hours After Surgery

I sleep really well. On my stomach. I get up, eat breakfast, read a little, but cannot concentrate. I fall asleep off and on all morning. I sleep too much that morning. Too much lying around. I decide to avoid all narcotic drugs to keep my head clear and so I feel like doing something. Tylenol and Naprosyn seem to cover it.

I have friends stop by. Mike Perricci stops in, we chat about missing the Saturday Morning men’s Promise Keepers gathering that morning. Kathy ‘the banana bread lady’ Snavely stops by with the banana bread. We all talk for a couple of hours.

I watch “In the Line of Fire” with Clint Eastwood. I hope I am so cool when I am his age. I am not now, so I would have to get more cool very soon.

I read a lot later that day. My head is finally clear enough. Decided to e-start the “Left Behind” book series by Tim LaHaye and and Jerry B. Jenkins. I have read 2 ½ books already.

My big deal is a trip to Sears. Tomorrow is my daughter’s birthday, and my wife wanted to run out. I use the crutches. What a pain in the neck that was. I decide never to use the crutches again. This is only 60 hours after surgery.

I watch “Saving Private Ryan”. My knee hurts a lot that night, but I am blown away by the movie, so I hardly notice. I had forgotten to take Tylenol since the afternoon, and I did not want to take Motrin or Naprosyn on an empty stomach, so I had a beer (non-prescription medication) and went to bed.

Sleep great!
