Monday, 11 Days After Surgery

Go to work for the full day. Start wearing the immobilizer, but with long pants on, I have to ‘drop trou’ to adjust or take it off. I put on my Bledsoe Hinged Brace. I am VERY careful, but feel guilty and a little worried as I walk around. I really try to limit my walking. Dr. Slagle did say I could walk around inside without the immobilizer. I wonder if he meant the office.

Pain is minimal, and I sit with my foot elevated when I can. I just take some Motrin at lunch. By the time I go home, I am very tired, and my knee is throbbing really bad.

At PT that night, Mike and I work on new exercises. He warns me not to over-do it. He says that I am doing so well, I have to be careful not to take things for granted. Remember, I may feel good, but there is still some physiology and healing that need to take place for things to last and be more solid (like bones growing around the pins).

Lost some mobility by myself (only 90 degrees), but up to 111 degrees with assistance. Mike warns me not to worry day-to-day on this measurements, that some days I may lose some degrees. I don’t want to hear that.

End the day with a meeting at church. I get home around 9:30 PM. I have been up and about for over 15 hours. I am tired and my knee is throbbing. I definitely over did it today.
